Mackenzie and Isla have been busy little girls since our last Christmas post! So busy that Mommy is having a hard time keeping up! Both girls have started Gymnastics and L-O-V-E it! Mackenzie is in the "Tot" class where she is with other kids her age and Isla is in the "Parent-Tot" class, where Mommy hangs with her for extra help! Their classes are at the same time so I am able to take quick peeks over at Mackenzie to see how she is doing all while getting to be apart of the fun with Isla! It's the perfect set up! Things I have learned about the girls from watching and participating with them in class are: (1) Mackenzie's main goal is get through everything as fast as she possibly can so she can do it all over again! It's so Mackenzie. (2) Isla is a beast! This girl might be small but man is she mighty! She is crazy good on the bars. (3) Even when the class is over and all the kids are walking out and getting their stickers, Mackenzie is still in the gym going through the obstacle course. She is so focused she doesn't even realize the class is over and everyone is leaving. Mommy has to physical go and remove her (without problem, but we all think its hysterical). (4) Isla plays the shy card with the coach and it is now the coaches main goal in life to have Isla give her at least one high five. Little does she know Isla can be stubborn and this probably won't happen for a while! What a great experience for us all so far! :-)
Now on to preschool! Mackenzie is still loving preschool. I feel like we hit the jack pot with our school as they always have so many neat things going on! They just had an adorable Dr. Seuss day where the celebrated with goofy hats they made, green eggs and ham, and lot's of reading of course! Today they had a big St. Patrick's day celebration where a sneaky leprechaun sent them on a magical hunt around the school. They even ended the day with an ice cream party! At the end of this month they will have a big Easter egg hunt where their siblings can also join in! We are all looking forward to that! Mackenzie has been working hard on writing her name and has pretty much mastered it. The hardest letter for her is the "K" and sometimes the "N", but she is starting to get better and better at them!
We also started going back to the library for story time and I am so happy that we did! The girls both get so into it and I get to see Isla in more of an "educational" setting which is a nice thing to see. I let them go with the other kids to the front of the room with the librarian and I purposely hang back to give them space. Mackenzie is used to this because of preschool but for Isla it was really the first time where mommy was still in the room but not right next to her. She loved the "freedom" and would give little looks back with a smile just to make sure I was still actually in the room.
And the fun doesn't end there...Isla and I will be starting another class in April called "Our Time" at the Stafford Rec Center where we will be doing arts and crafts, stories, lessons, etc. I am looking forward to seeing what new and exciting things that class brings for her! We will do this when Mackenzie is at school. We will also be signing the girls up for swim lessons in the next couple of months! Man, it's fun to be them!
