One BIG OBX post!

Every year the Wolfe crew looks forward to our beach vacation down in the Outer banks and this year was no exception!  Man did we have a blast! The first week was spent with our long time family friends, the Masoners. This was such a special week for us as we use to vacation in OBX with them for as long as I can remember. We took a small break due to college, kids, etc., but now we are back at it again!  It was amazing to see how our families have grown and how the “kids” now have kids of their own! There were 14 adults and 8 children (all 2 years and under!). The Masoners rented the house next to ours which made for our night time get togethers much easier. Every night we came together for a huge smorgasbord for dinner down at the pool. Pool you say?! That’s right our parents also surprised us with a beautiful pool! We beached it, pooled it, watched Fourth of July fireworks from the top deck, and of course had our usual hilarious conversations over adult beverages at night! The kids had a blast with one another and we can’t wait to do it again! It’s amazing how no matter how much distance and time separates our two families we always pick up right where we left off. What a special and unique bond our families have and I already see that bond forming with the next generation!

(I didn't take too many pics seeing that my sister is an amazing photographer and I usually just steal her pictures anyway. If you want to see some awesome pics of the week please visit her site at www.shorttstories.com).

Thank you to the Beach Ball for once again showing us a good time :-)
But wait it doesn't end there! We were all set to head home after a week at the beach when my parents came up with the genius idea of having us (me and my girls and Kris and her kiddos)  stay on another week for what we call our family week. My PopPop, GG, Uncle Vince, Ellen, Tyler, Sammy, Michael, Monica, and Maddie all came down to join in on the fun! It was such an amazing time together as the kids really got to know their great-grandparents, uncle, aunt, and cousins. Speaking of cousins, they had a BLAST with them. The boys were so adorable with the kids and the kids ate it up! We went for nightly walks after dinner, ventured down to the ice cream shop a few times, and of course had our fun at the beach and pool! We feel so blessed to have had that time with our family and memories were certainly made that week!

Started off the week with pretty pictures :-)

I love that smile

I saved this picture for last because I still can't believe it. The black arrow is pointing to my 83 year old grandfather who is riding a wave. If you look close you can see his arms through the wave.  He rode the hell out of it too! Man he's awesome!

Now, it would be totally unrealistic to say that those 2 weeks were nothing but rainbows and sunshine! Don’t get me wrong there were WAY more GREAT times than not, but a few things did occur during our stay that weren't particularly enjoyable. On the second day we were there, spirited Mackenzie decided it was time to learn how to climb out of her pack-and-play (aka small travel crib) and boycott sleep.  The second we put her in the crib she would hop right out in protest. This left both Mommy, Daddy, and daughter feeling pretty frustrated as Zie wanted to party all night and her parents well had other plans for her. We ended up making the best of it and decided to let her fall asleep wherever she wanted and when I say wherever I mean WHEREVER!  A huge thank you to MomMom who was literally my right hand after Jimmy left. She was right there in the trenches with me and I know she is still making up for lost sleep!  Oh Zie, you ALWAYS keep it interesting…

Mackenzie slept...

And this is what I woke up to so nicely every morning..
Also...as I was going through my pictures at home, I found a few surprise photos that I didn't know about! Someone must have gotten a hold of Aunt Kelly's phone ;-)

Oh B, you're such a goof!

Thank you Mom and Dad for allowing us to build these memories with our children! We can't wait to go back to the Beach Ball next year!  We thought this year was crazy, next year the kids will be 3 and almost 2...ahhhh!!!! ;-)
