19 Months & 3 Months

Mackenzie Amelia- 19 Months

Wow, do we have one vivacious 19 month old! Mackenzie seems to be all over the place these days and we love it! She loves throwing herself into the ball pit, chasing Lupa all over the house, and seems to now jump everywhere she goes! She has become even more obsessed with Mickey and Minnie and asks for "icky" and "mimi" to come on the TV. She is loving her new kitchen set and eating her breakfast and snacks on her new table and chairs from MomMom and PopPop (early Christmas present for both girls). Her vocabulary seems to be soaring with new words everyday. She now tells Lupa to "sit", names her body parts, says "cheese" when she sees a camera, and is starting to learn her colors! She has mastered blue and green, and I have a feeling red will be next! We also discovered through an allergy test that Miss Zie has a strong allergy to cats (I wonder where she gets it from...hint, hint, her father!), so it looks like cats will not be in our future. She is madly in love with her little sister and I can see the love and friendship that she has for her grow with each passing day. I took Mackenzie food shopping with me while Jimmy stayed home and watched Isla. After I buckled her up in the car seat and went to shut the door, Mackenzie had a puzzled look on her face and said "Isla?"She wanted to know where her little sister was. That's when it became clear just how much they have connected and bonded these past few months. It's amazing how much they change in such a short amount of time and we are so blessed to be able to witness her learn and grow!

Isla Marie- 3 Months

Miss Isla turned 3 months today and is as sweet and beautiful as ever! She now giggles when Mommy acts silly and is cooing up a storm! She seems to watch us everywhere we go and just gets the biggest kick out of Mackenzie. She literally lights up with the sound of her voice! She loves being cuddled and has really started exploring her surroundings. I often see her grab a hold of something and then continuously rub her fingers on it to get a feel for the texture. She is weighing in at 11 pounds 11 ounces and is 22 1/2 inches long. As many of you know, Isla had a fetal arrhythmia while in the womb. We originally thought it had corrected it self during birth, but at her pediatric cardiologist appointment today, the EKG and Echo Cardiogram showed that the arrhythmia is still present. They also discovered a small leak in one of her valves (found at birth) that still has not closed. It is a VERY minor leak that the doctor says will not cause any harm to her. She is currently hooked up to a heart monitor that will collect data for the next 24 hours. The doctor will then review the data and give us a little more information about the type of arrhythmia she has. Anything that has to do with the heart can be a scary thing, but we all feel very confident that these are small issues that will eventually correct themselves with time. You would have no idea that something was "off" as she acts and from what we can tell feels great! She is as smiley as ever and even the nurse said she was the best baby she had seen all day! :-) She truly lights up our world and we thank god everyday for blessing us with two amazing children. Happy 3 Months, Smiley!

Happy 3 Months!
