The Adventures of Mackenzie & Isla: 17 Months & 1 Month

Mackenzie and Isla were born exactly 16 months apart to the day, which makes things incredibly easy on us parents! For example, their well doctor visits always fall on the same day, we can blog their monthly milestones together, and the most obvious is that we only have to remember one birthday number of 18 (like we wouldn't remember otherwise). So what has been happening in these little ladies lives...

Mackenzie Amelia (aka Sweet Pea)- 17 Months

Mackenzie has been doing fantastic! Her vocabulary has splurged and she is now talking up a storm! She is so in love with words that for the majority of the day you can find her amongst a pile of books. She loves to read to herself, to Mommy & Daddy, and most of all to Isla. She has yet to find a book she doesn't like. She is not just interested in looking at the pictures, but wants to hear the story and knows if you are skipping parts or cutting it short (nothing gets by her!). We are so proud of this little one as she has had to adapt to a new routine and for the most part has done wonderfully! We had a few night time issues at first but she got through them like a champ and is sleeping great again! We are loving these beautiful fall days and try to do a daily outside activity. She impresses us everyday and we are just so proud of our little sweet pea!

Fun Fact: Mackenzie has become obsessed with potato chips. She screams in joy every time she sees a chip. Not the best thing to be addicted to but Mommy and Daddy usually give her one to munch one!

Big Sister Mackenzie & Baby Sister Isla

Isla Marie (aka Ladybug)- 1 month

It's truly unbelievable that Isla is already a month old! It seems like just yesterday she was born, but at the same time it feels like she has always been here. She is such an easy going baby who is incredibly pleasant and relaxed. She is staying awake more during the day and is sleeping great at night (two 4 hour stretches). She is gaining weight incredibly well and is now weighing in at 8 lbs. 15 oz! She absolutely loves bath time and will lay there peacefully without making a peep. What she isn't too sure about is tummy time. She makes little complain cries as she lifts her head, so the jury is still out on that one! She loves her swing but also loves to cuddle, and will make it known when she would rather be rocking in your arms (we of course don't mind!). She lets Mackenzie give her lots of hugs and kisses and enjoys story time with her big sis! What a great first month of life for our little ladybug!

Milestones: Starting to lift head when on tummy, stares at faces, responds to sound
Fun Fact: Like her big sis, Isla has a sweet little dimple on her right cheek (Zie's is on left). We love seeing it when she grins and think it's neat that her and her sister share a unique facial feature! (They get it from their Daddy!).
