We are thrilled to introduce Isla (eye-la) Marie Wolfe born September 18th at 2:12 PM weighing in at 6 lbs. 7 oz. and 19" long! We are overcome with emotions as our family of three has now grown to four. Here is a glimpse of our journey...
I went to my regular perinatology appointment on Monday where the baby's fetal arrhythmia is always assessed. The doctor noticed that the arrhythmia had increased and her heart was skipping at a more rapid pace. At 38 weeks and 4 days, the doctor decided it was best to monitor the heart from outside the womb and suggested that I be induced that night. It was 6pm when he told me the news so you can only imagine the excitement, worry, and chaos that soon followed. We quickly had a friend come over to watch Mackenzie as my amazing mother drove up in the dark and pouring rain so she could stay with Zie while we were in the hospital.
We arrived at the hospital around 9:30 PM and started the induction process. After a fantastic nights rest (thanks to some sleep aids!) they administered the pitocin (medicine that makes you have contractions) at 7 AM Tuesday morning. By 2 PM things were in full swing and it was go time! I must say that I am one of those lucky people because I pushed for a total of 5 minutes and at 2:12 our little girl was here! My doctor had said that the birthing process alone could resolve the Arrhythmia and sure enough it did! The NICU team was there to access her heart and gave us a big thumbs up! From that moment on we were floating on cloud nine!
During our stay we had amazing visits from my parents and most of all big sister Mackenzie! We were beaming when Zie walked into the room as we missed her so much. She was excited to see her Mommy and Daddy and was very interested in the sweet little baby that was with us! Every time she left, she made sure to say "bye-bye Baby"
Jimmy and I would also like to take the time to thank two amazing people, my mother and father, for all of their love and support while we were in the hospital. On a dimes notice they came a great distance (Mom from Blacksburg and Dad from California) to watch Mackenzie during our hospital stay and kept her thoroughly entertained! We came home to a smiling, laughing, silly, and most importantly happy little girl and what more could we have asked for?! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
