We have swings!!! That's right, Mackenzie and Isla are the proud owners of a new swing set! The Shortt family and Ball grandparents (Uncle Kev had to work) came up to help us set up this beast of a play set! Uncle Matt and Jimmy started at 6:30 AM and didn't finish until 8:30 PM, only taking a 1/2 hour break for lunch! PopPop joined in on the fun at noon and worked hard until the last screw was put in (even with his new knee!). Jimmy and Matt were the builders and PopPop was their manager, getting them set up for the next "step" of the project. It worked out perfectly.
While the men worked, the ladies (and Mr. Beck) played! We enjoyed a nice walk down to the neighborhood park where the girls got to go down the slides and ride on the "horsey", and the newbies got to stroll around the block with MomMom. We also enjoyed the beautiful weather on the deck watching the men work.
And how did they like the finished project you ask....THEY LOVED IT!!!!!!!! They were so excited to explore the new set! They went from the swings, to the slide, to the trapeze bar, to the clubhouse, and back again. Since the set has been put up all I hear out of Zie's mouth is "Swings, swings, swings, swings, swings?" and then "slide, slide, slide, slide, slide?" We are so thrilled that they like their new outside play area and know that we will be spending A LOT of time there this summer!
A huge thank you to Uncle Matt and my Dad for helping Jimmy with this project. We could have never done this without your help. Aunt Kris and MomMom, thank you so much for helping with the girls and making the trip up! I know how hard it is to travel with little ones.

We even fit in a little tournament ceremony. For the past two years the Ball/Shortt/Wolfe families have partaken in the NCAA Basketball Bracket Challenge and the 1st-3rd place winners get prizes (woo hoo!). First place went to Matt, second place Jimmy, and third place PopPop. The "Losers" included myself, MomMom, Kevman, and Kris (maybe next year guys?!). Here are the winners with their prizes (girft card to Lowes and VT golf shirts). Way to go guys! |
Now Zie can swing to her hearts content.
