At my 34 week appointment, I was diagnosed with Polyhydraminos, which basically means I have an abnormal amount of amniotic fluid (high amount). Because of this, I now see a Perinatologist in addition to my regular OB. Each week I will be getting a biophysical profile (in-depth ultra sound and stress test) and my fluid levels will be watched closely. One in a hundred pregnant women are diagnosed with Polyhydraminos. Of those women, 60% fall into the "unknown" category, which means, there is no clear indication/reason as to why there is an increased amount of fluid. The Perinatologist concluded that I am one of those women. The biophysical profile and stress test showed that Baby Wolfe is healthy and right on track! The doctor had nothing but good things to say about our little one! Interestingly enough, my sister Kristin received the same diagnosis during her pregnancy. All in all both doctors are not overly concerned with things and just want to watch me a little closer before our peanuts arrival!
Today was our 36 week appointment and we had some positive news about the fluid level. My levels seem to be down (YAY!) but they want to continue to watch me because they were unable to get an accurate reading on the fluid. Our little one also seems to have her own agenda because she decided to do a flip on us and is now breech (head up by my ribs and butt down in my pelvic area). She had been head down for a while, but wanted to make things just a little tricky for us! We still have some time so hopefully she will decide to flip back into the correct position! Like my mom said, she has a gymnast's genes so of course she would be doing flips!
